5th Workshop on Maximum Entropy
and its Applications

Department of Mathematics, University of Aveiro

October 20, 2023

Rectory Building | Academic Acts Room

The theory of maximum entropy plays an important role in the analysis of ill-posed problems that occur in diverse areas of science. It is on the foundations of info-metrics, a research area at the intersection of statistics, computer science and information theory. This workshop aims to join together researchers from different areas (e.g., probability and statistics, information theory, statistical physics, applications of maximum entropy) to promote discussion and inter-disciplinarity.

We very much look forward to your participation.

The 5th Workshop on Maximum Entropy and its Applications (WMEA 2023) will be on October 20, 2023. The program includes a tutorial (morning) and four invited talks (afternoon). Please see the details in the Program section.

Registration is free of charge, but mandatory through the following registration form: REGISTRATION. The workshop will be held in a hybrid mode. Please indicate your preference in the registration form. Please note that registration closes at 17:00 (Portugal time; UTC/GMT +01:00) on October 19, and only registered participants who choose to participate online will receive the Zoom link.

The workshop is supported by the Center for Research and Development in Mathematics and Applications (CIDMA) and the Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (CEFAGE) through the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P.; Funder ID = 50110000187) under Grants UIDB/04106/2020, UIDP/04106/2020 and UIDB/04007/2020.

The CO2 emissions generated by the WMEA 2023 will be offset through United Nations projects.
