The Cape Verde International Days on Mathematics 2021

Welcome to the 4th The Cape Verde International Days on Mathematics, CVIM'2021. 

The Cape Verde International Days on Mathematics 2021 (CVIM'2021) will take place at University of Cape Verde, in the new university campus (zona K, Palmarejo Grande, Praia - GPS Coordinates: WFF2+6F Praia), from September 6th to 10th 2021. The conference is the fourth in the conference series "The Cape Verde International Days on Mathematics" organized by the University of Cape Verde, Cape Verde, and the University of Aveiro, Portugal. The previous meetings were CVIM'2013,  CVIM'2015 and CVIM'2017.

Considering the current situation, CVIM'2021 will be held in a hybrid mode, i.e., it will be held simultaneously in face-to-face form (in Praia) as well as online form.

Aims and Scope

Topics of the conference include (but are not limited to):

• Optimization and Variational Analysis

• Mathematical Systems Theory

• Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations

• Geometric Nonlinear Control and Applications

• Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Methods Applied to Biomedicine

• Matrix theory and its applications

• Fractional Calculus

• Calculus on Time Scales

• Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Deep Neural Networks 

The conference will consist of invited plenary talks (40 minutes + 5 minutes) and contributed paper presentations (25 minutes + 5 minutes).

Selected full papers of this conference will be published in an international journal.

Cape Verde comprises ten islands and is located 600 kilometers off the coast of Senegal. The islands vary in geographical characteristics. Sal, Boavista, Maio, and São Vicente are flat and desert-like, with stretches of sand dunes. Santiago, Santo Antão, Fogo, and São Nicolau are more mountainous and arable, although all the islands have a long history of drought. They are all of volcanic origin; Fogo, the only volcano still active, last erupted in 2014. The capital, Praia, is on the island of Santiago which is the largest in terms of area and population and the first one to be settled.

Cape Verde’s climate is pleasantly tropical with year round average temperatures between 26° and 30° C, uninterrupted sunshine from November to May and a rainy season between the months of June and October, when sudden but spectacular rainstorms can punctuate the hot sun.
