The Center for Research and Development in Mathematics and Applications (CIDMA) is a research centre based at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Aveiro. It conducts fundamental and applied research across a broad range of mathematical fields.

Established in 2010 through the merger of the research centres MA and CEOC, CIDMA supports the scientific development of early-career researchers and the training of new researchers through postgraduate education and advanced research training.

CIDMA brings together researchers and collaborators across eight research groups:

• Functional Analysis and Applications Group (FAAG)
• Gravitational Geometry and Dynamics Group (GGDG)
• History of Mathematics and Mathematical Education Group (HMG)
• Optimization, Graph Theory and Combinatorics Group (OGTCG)
• Probability and Statistics Group (PSG)
• Systems and Control Group (SCG)

Research activities and collaboration

CIDMA supports research, scientific exchange and researcher training through:

• Regular research talks, seminars and advanced courses.
• Participation in scientific meetings to present and discuss research findings.
• International collaboration through research visits and the hosting of visiting researchers.
• Organisation of workshops and conferences.
• Postgraduate education and advanced research training.

CIDMA also seeks to contribute to social and economic development through multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with other research teams.

Research integrity

On 25 September 2013, CIDMA’s Scientific Council adopted the Code of Practice of the European Mathematical Society.
